Spiritual Authority — Psalms 122:1-9

Dominion means sovereignty and sovereignty means "supreme rulership" or "monarchy". Dominion can never be possible unless there's a throne. In terms of dominion, we do not talk about government or democracy, we simple talk about rulership.

A ruler is someone who takes decisions without consulting anyone and as he/she pleases. A ruler is seen more like as a god or deity who must be worshipped and never disobeyed. In our scripture we see something which I consider to be strange.

Take a look at the phrase, "the thrones of the house of David". What does this phrase suggest to you? I find it strange that there could be multiple thrones in a house.

Notice the plurality in that verse, a demonstration of the fact that not one person would sit on a throne. For dominion to be possible, there must be one throne; and you cannot effectively call something a throne if there are more than one of it. Additionally, we notice that these thrones are specialized for judgment; they serve no other purpose but judgment hence the reason why they are called "thrones of judgment".

Judgment is one of the characteristics of dominion, it's one of the several components that work together to sum up as "dominion". With this insight, we can say that there's a dominion somewhere that sublets it's "judgment arm" to the house of David. In other words, this dominion handles all other components of dominion but more like franchises it's judgment arm to the house of David.

I want you to also notice from our scripture that all of these things were prophetically taking place in Jerusalem. Where is Jerusalem? Hebrews 12:22-24 (22) But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, (23) To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, (24) And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Jerusalem is now in heaven! In Psalms 122, the children of Israel were found in the earthly Jerusalem; but in Hebrews 12, we are described as people who are in the heavenly Jerusalem. Why is it so?

It's so because the word of God says we are seated with Christ in the heavenly places by reason of our salvation as seen below: Ephesians 2:5-6 (5) Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (6) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: As long as we're genuinely saved and operate in righteousness, we are represented spiritually in heaven. Did you notice the phrase, "and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus"? So, we all sit INSIDE Christ Jesus?

Like, even if we were two million genuine children of God, we all sit INSIDE Christ Jesus! But where does Jesus Himself sit? Mark 16:19 (19) So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Are there 2 thrones in heaven? The bible never says that Jesus sits on a throne in heaven. In fact, at some point, you could see statements like, "Jesus stood on the right hand of God", as well as statements like, "Jesus sat on the right hand of God".

Look at instances below: Acts 2:34-36 (34) For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, (35) Until I make thy foes thy footstool. (36) Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Acts 7:55-56 (55) But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, (56) And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. The big thing to notice in all of these is that the bible never says Jesus sits AT the right hand of God but says Jesus sits ON the right hand of God.

If there was a throne at the right hand of God, the bible would have said that Jesus sits AT the right hand of God. Jesus however sits ON the right hand of God. In normal English, we would say, "sit ON the throne"; so, if we looked at the two phrases, "sit ON the right hand" and "sit ON the throne", we would simply discover the right hand of God to be a throne.

This is not a visible throne so to speak but an authority realm. What is the right hand of God? 1 Peter 3:22 (22) Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

We can now say that the right hand of God is that part of God that holds authority and control over angels(spirits), authorities, and powers. Jesus sits on that part of God that dominates everything; God has given all of His power, authority, and control to Christ. Now to the big one!

Jesus does not sit on a throne, but sits on God's power. However, no matter the authority made available to an individual or entity; authority and dominion can never be communicated without a throne. The throne becomes the physical symbol that highlights the presence of authority.

So, how would Jesus transmit His dominion within the earth-realm? Daniel 7:9-18 (9) I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. (10) A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. (11) I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. (12) As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. (13) I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. (14) And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. (15) I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. (16) I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this.

So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. (17) These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. (18) But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. The book of Daniel 7 presents the prophetic timeline from the time of Daniel till the coming of the Messiah. The first stage of the victory is seen in verse 9 which says, "I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire".

So, according to Daniel 7:9, at a point in time, thrones would be cast down and immediately after this, God would sit in place of all the thrones cast down. In other words, many thrones would be destroyed and just one throne would be created. Do you realize that at a point, authority in the earth-realm was held by Satan and his demons until an event happened?

The event was the resurrection of Jesus from death. When Jesus was raised from death, all authority was immediately transferred back to God. God however, moved all of this authority to Jesus Christ as can be seen below: Daniel 7:13-14 (13) I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. (14) And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

The phrase, "came with the clouds of heaven" shows that this authority was handed over to Jesus when He ascended to heaven. I know this because He ascended with the "clouds" as seen below: Acts 1:9 (9) And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. So, on ascending to heaven, Jesus went straight to God and received all authority as a blessing for His victory.

Though He has, He doesn't sit on a throne, but on the right hand of God. Who sits on thrones? Revelation 20:4 (4) And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

US! I don't wish to thrill you with more scriptural revelations, but know this! There are vacant thrones, waiting to reflect God's authority as received by Jesus in heaven on earth.

Someone should sit on that throne. Someone like YOU! Are you ready!
