God has again given me the assurance that all the things He spoke about will come to pass. Let the word of God concerning us remain true and let every other word be a lie in the name of Jesus Christ! The Psalmist in our text shows that every command issued by God has an ability to stand.
You already know that the word, "stand" shows an entity that possesses at least a pair of legs. Does this apply only to words from God? Isaiah 8:10 (10) Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.
The above passage shows that even words spoken by the enemy possess the same capacity to stand as much as words from God. The only difference according to the above is that so long as God is with an individual, any word spoken against that individual will not be able to stand. Another way of putting this is, "Any word spoken against an individual who God is with will lose its feet and ultimately be unable to stand".
Every word is an entity and the most important characteristic possessed by all spoken words is mobility. For this mobility to be possible, the word must possess at least a pair of feet. Let's take a further reading below: Psalms 147:15 (15) He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.
The above passage is so beautiful in that it shows that God's word doesn't just stand, it also runs very swiftly. Every word must be able to move from its source to its destination. The source is the mouth of the speaker of that word, and the destination is the required location.
This required location is the place where the spoken word is expected to act. For this word to get to this location, it must be able to travel to it by the use of its feet. For the word to be able to act when it gets to its destination, it must be able to stand.
At what point does Satan begin to fight a word spoken by God? 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 (1) Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: (2) And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. Paul asked the Thessalonians to pray for him so that the word of the Lord may have FREE COURSE.
That is uninterrupted movement. In the second verse, he explained how the free course or movement of the word of the Lord could be interrupted. The reason given was "unreasonable and wicked men".
The enemy resists the word of God through human instruments. Apart from situations of the expansion of the gospel like in the case of Paul, God could give a word of promotion concerning an individual only for the individual's promotion to be resisted in his/her place of work by a wicked or unreasonable fellow. This resistance threatens the ability of the word of God to express mobility and according to the great apostle Paul, the only antidote to this is prayer.
This is why you see a scripture like the one below: 1 Timothy 1:18 (18) This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Like I always tell us, every prophecy is a demand for prayer. Prophecy highlights the direction of prayer that an individual must follow. When a prophetic word is given, a word from God proceeds and begins to run.
If however, there's an unreasonable or wicked instrument prepared by the devil, this word begins to experience turbulence in its journey towards the required location.
