Meditate On The Message

God has been good to us as individuals and as a ministry and I give Him praise for that. Once again, we will look at what constitutes the deepest desire of my heart which is? Why does the word of God work for some but not for others?

Each time I teach in church, I try answering this same question and over the years, I discovered that there are so many reasons why situations like this persist, and we will look at one of those reasons now. The first part of our focal scripture says, "Have respect unto the covenant". This is more like a command and not a request.

A covenant can be respected or disrespected. Let's proceed on this by looking at the passage below: Exodus 2:23-25 (23) And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. (24) And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. (25) And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them. The scripture above shows that God can respect a people of covenant, and this respect happens when God remembers His covenant with such people.

So, in a covenant between God and man, God respects man while man respects the covenant. We can say at this point that when man fails to respect the covenant, God forgets the covenant and ultimately fails to respect the man with whom He established the covenant. The word, "respect" is defined as, "a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements".

The following therefore becomes true: 1. The first stage of respect is the recognition of uniqueness with respect to quality, ability, or achievement. 2.

This recognition, furthermore, elicits a deep feeling of admiration. From what we have above, you realize that without recognizing how powerful, special, and impacting a covenant is, you can never have respect for it. Respect is an automatic response your body gives to the recognition of uniqueness in something or someone.

Recognition happens consciously while respect happens unconsciously. You cannot control respect nor can you control disrespect but you can control value recognition. How much faith do you have in the church's covenant covenant walk?

Have you actually recognized how powerful and deep this covenant is? Do you have personal evidence or testimony? If these things are not so, then you have one of the answers to why you don't experience the daily benefits of the covenant walk.

A divine covenant is only as powerful as the respect you have for it. Also, the power of God or the anointing upon a servant of God is only as powerful as the respect you have for it. This is why we see situations where the power of God in the life of a preacher gets weaker towards an individual when they get more familiar.

There's actually no problem with familiarity if respect can be sustained within the ambience of familiarity. But when respect diminishes with increasing familiarity, supernatural power increasingly get's weaker. remember all the great acts of God in our midst, think of the ones you heard about, saw, or experienced and build a great reverence, fear, and honour for this covenant. If you do this, God will remember something previously forgotten about you in Jesus' mighty name!
