Scripture Focus

Lamentations 2:19 · KJV

(19) Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the LORD: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.

Meditate On The Message

To gain a deeper insight into the message in our focal scripture, let's consider the verse below © & St. Matthew 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. From the above verse, we can understand the word, "watch" to mean the word, "hour". The above verse could as well be rendered as "And in the fourth hour of the night...". Therefore, we can understand the phrase "Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches", to also mean "Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the hours". Notice that this didn't say "in the beginning of the hours of the night", but rather said "in the beginning of the hours". It's like saying, "cry out to God in the first hour which occurs within nighttime". In a nutshell, the first hour which of course can be found within nighttime is the midnight hour. In our focal scripture, a picture of a people in severe affliction is painted, and Jeremiah consequently encouraged them to take their prayers of petition to the midnight hour. This beautiful verse shows us that the best way to get a great and rapid intervention in the midst of severe trouble would be to become consistent with calling upon God at the midnight hour. The part of lifting hands towards God as seen in the verse shows a total surrender to God. This is one of the greatest secrets to receiving a sudden divine intervention. Are you in a situation that needs urgent intervention? If so, begin to cry out to God every midnight and get ready for a visitation in Jesus' mighty name!
